  4. When doing an algae scrub and gravel vac, loose particles get kicked up in the water. With the proper filtration, the water should clear, but you should NEVER completely switch the water out for new water. The reason tanks are only drained 10-50% is because established "good" bacteria are essential to a healthy aquarium eco-system. With out these good bacteria there could be a build-up of ammonia caused by unprocessed fish waste, which is poisonous in large amounts and can easily kill your fish.

  5. Insightful video, however I would recommend buying a gravel vac with a hand pump instead of putting your mouth to the hose. If you have a gravel vac with-out a hand pump, there is still yet another simple way to get the water flowing with out having to suck it out. Yuck. I would also recommend that one should scrub for algae BEFORE gravel vacing, that way you can vacuum out some loose particles you scrape off, and lessen the amount of particles your mechanical or UG filter need to trap.

  12. I used to do this sort of cleaning of my tank, and all my fish died.
You can't stop the filtration, good bacteria colonies will die within a short time and the tank will need cycling again. Also try not to dig up the gravel, will release harmful substances into the water too quickly and cause extreme stress for the fish.
But, this video sure is fun :)

  15. topfin water conditioner is not that good personally I prefer nutrafin products also she only has 1 type of product for adding new water to a aquarium, also you do not need aquarium salt to clean your aquarium as it is to treat them if they have any damage fins however it does help promote healthy gill function, reduces stress and loss of electrolytes but is not actually needed

nor do you need to take out any plants or ornaments of your aquarium it is actually better if you don't remove them
