It's been over a year since I posted my bullhead feeding video which seems to be my most popular so I figured it was time for a sequel. A lot has changed since the last video including a move house move and tankmate changes but the bullhead himself has remained just as insatiable. This time he's eating frozen beefheart. The other fish in the tank are a sailfin pleco, 2 female spotted sunfish, a female green sunfish, rock bass and male longear sunfish. The sunfish are all a bit skittish around the camera but would otherwise be all over that beefheart. Video Rating: 4 / 5
Nope, the only fish in this video still alive are the rock bass, plecostomus and one of the spotted sunfish. The other spotted sunfish, green and longear sunfish and bullhead have all since died.
well it depends on the breed of bass and catfish large mouth bass if you get it as a baby you will have it for a bout a year in a half because the get so big and cat fish you can get bull heads and keep it for ever but no channel or blue or red tails they grow to big
no but you can in a ten gallon but i would recommend a 30 gallon if you are looking to breed the 2 bull heads its more easy for them to reach max height in there and still move around
No, I think by watching my video you can see that a bullhead will grow much too large for an 8g tank. If you want something similar to a bullhead but smaller look into tadpole madtoms, smaller members of the bullhead family and just as interesting.
I miss one when it was half an inch by hand and raised it to only 5 inches and it was hand fed, even swam under my hand to let me pet it. But it died last year for som ereason
I used to catch these by the hundreds while fishing for channel cats in a river across town. Always threw them back. I never did know they made such great pets. Next time I get an aquarium ill have to keep some for pets.

My longears came from Ohio and were captive bred, you can get them online. You are right though, in some places they are protected but in others they are quite common, such as Ohio.

ReplyDeleteThere is a similarity but I assure you it is a brown bullhead. There are no Flathead catfishes where I live.

ReplyDeleteget a pond heater and it will mine died throught the winter of 2011 so you will need a pond heater or a deep pond
