hey T, the return pump is a Velocity pump ( no longer available ) and it generates about 600 GPH. the other pump, for internal circulation, does 3600 GPH.
hey S, a pre-filter is intended to be a biological filter, hence saving the bacterias. if you are cleaning the prefilter every other week hosing it with FW is not an issue. if its every six months then you are not doing maintenance properly and it will have a negative affect in the tank.
hey Jim, I heard that when puffer fish die, their poison will be released into the tank, thus killing all the fish. What are your plans with guinea fowl puffer? Have you made any preparations for this? Because I have a starry puffer and at the moment, I'm not quite sure i know what to do with him. Do you have any ideas?
hey M, this tank does not have an algae problem and I have been servicing it this way for 3 years. thanks for your comments but I think you are way overboard on your avoidance of tap water.
Thanks
ReplyDeletehey T, a 1.5 inch drain bulkhead can swallow 750 GPH.
ReplyDeleteHow many gallons an hour do you think 1.5 inch over flow can take

ReplyDeletehey jim, i was told to clean the prefilter in clean salt water, or else you will kill all the good bacteria inside the filter. is this true or bs?
ReplyDeletehey B, there is some truth to this, but i have lost my share of box and puffer fish and have never experienced that problem.
