I had the same problem with mine too! You just need to put him in an aquarium with an already built nest and a female so his instincts could "pop out?''.
I did this with my betta and after the eggs hatched i was like Crap...What the HECK am i gonna do with all these!?!? (i sold them into a great betta store for good money XD)
and how small can the tank be cause i think i have a 1.5 gallon and my betta seems to make lots of bubbles even befor i got my female and i just got her yester day and she has up and down lines but my male is not making bubles why? and what can i do?

I didn't condition them :/ but the male seems infatuated with her, she has bars and I let her out a few times they beat eachother up :p but I removed her. No bubble nest its been 2 days. Should I recondition them? If I do, will he make a nest
