This is my 50 gal marine refugium, works great in line with my reef tank, a lot of copepods and amphipods lives in the Ref, gives a lot of nutriets to the reef. 2 inch mud with a 2 inch aragonite sand bed.
no my friend it didnt eat the crab they were simply mating and in a few short months there will be some baby crabcock mantis, oh man ive smoked far too much shit tonight
how much does that whole set up cost, both tanks..and what happens if theres an power outage, would the filter not running endanger the critters at all? i want to get a mantis shrimp but im not sure about how much anything costs or set up or anything
whoa with fuges like that who needs display tanks!! So does that mantis eat all crabs or what? How do you feed it? seemed like a waste of an emerald crab lol. Very cool but kind of a creepy lil bugger
Some people keep them in 10 gallons tank believe it or not. You just have to be careful when feeding and have a deep sand bed so they don't find the bottom of the tank and start tapping away in the middle of the night.
Fantastic mini marine cosmos! Well done and thanks for sharing it with the world.
I have a feeling in another 100 years private acquariums like yours and others a bit larger in "theme parks" will be the only places where such beautiful creatures can be seen, all the others existing in the wild will have been destroyed along with their habitats.
I hope I am wrong, but of course I won't be around to find out.
Hi there. We have a 200gal reef tank. Just a quick question, I was under the impression that small bubble in a marine tank could and are deadly. Am I right or wrong?
Just why would it want to hit the aquarium glass anyway? Unless a crab was on the glass and the shrimp missed and hit the glass instead, I don't think the shrimp would ever go out of its way to destroy its own home.
Screw you for having a bigger refugium than my whole tank. Lol, jk.. the joys of apartment living.
Love the coloration though, not sure if its vid quality or if other peacocks I've seen just weren't as vivid, but the contrast of the bright red belly and colorful top is beautiful.
I'd love to have one of these guys (intentionally, not as hitchhikers plz lol) but I want my other inverts to be healthy and living, so thats out for now.
Ironically it spells out pms

Do you have any shrimp in with that trigger?
ReplyDeleteWow. Give it up for the king. That is once of the best home reefs, and definitely the best refugium I have ever seen. Great design and planning.
