This is right after feeding time to get them to not beg in the video. Tank: Gravel - CaribSea Instant Aquarium Tahitian Moon Gravel (80 pounds) Filters - 3 X Marineland Penguin Pro 400 and 530 gph canister filter w/ built in 9w uv. UV Sterilizer - Jebo 36w Heaters - 300w hydor and fluval 70 inch bubble wand Air Pump - Maxima dual outlet Plants - Onion bulb, anibus nana and amazon sword. Light Fixture - 2X96w - 72 inches The stand was custom made by my dad and I. The tank was made in 1997 but has been repainted. It was "oak" but the stand didn't match the tank so everything was painted with rustolium, even the back of the tank, which is fish safe. Fish: Panda Tele 2x Red & White Ranchu 2x Orandas Ryukin Pearlscale Fantail Pearlscale/Oranda mix 3 Albino Bristlenose Plecos Video Rating: 4 / 5
The only plants in the tank now are 4 huge amazon swords, they are about the size of my head, and three dwarf lilies that were moved from my tropical tank. They eat all the other plants I try to add.
If I had all the fish I want, I wouldn't have enough room for furniture lol
@nhstitan18 Lol about the eel. I went to my lfs today n saw a rope fish. Never seen it before. Look like a snake. Just brown. But it's too aggressive for my 55 with the Sharks lol the Isharks do get big. I think in a year they'll reach 10-12 inches. All depending on the space they have. They look nice though. Swim pattern is cool. Specially while feeding. Well. Keep us posted with that tank. Any new plants?? Try java moss.
eels just creep me out...it is something about their eyes. I did like to watch the videos of ID sharks but I heard they got too big for most fish tanks. When I move, I will likely turn this tank into some sort of communityish planted tank and put half the goldfish into a pond.
It weighs like 350 pounds empty. My dad and brother moved it into the house and then my uncle helped them put it up on the stand.
@nhstitan18 I'm 24. I right now I keep 3 discus and a fire eel in a 65 gallon tall with a couple of swords and bamboos(i think) with A aquatop canister 500. I think that's what u have too right? I got a 55 with a red parrot and two ID sharks. Y u decided to keep goldfish. There's more attractive fish out there. Perfect for a eel tank. Another question. How much does the tank weight. W out water. How many people help to mount on the stand?
I do realize that they get large, half of them are 6 inches or larger. But even with 20 fish in the tank, the nitrates never go over 5, this could be because of the filtration or 4 Amazon Swords that are bigger than the average human head, and an 80% water change is performed weekly. I haven't had a problem with water quality on this tank in the 1.5 years that it has been set up. I appreciate your opinion, but I am not removing any of them.
Rule of thumb for GF is 20-30 gallons per fish, that simple. You can make all the other arguments you want to. With heavy palnt mass you could drop that to 10 per fish, but as that tank stands, I wouldnt go more than 9 or 10. What you all dont realize is that these fish get the size of BASEBALLS not counting fins. Thats a LOT of fish mass folks. The higher the body mass, the higher the waste. And not waste that a filter takes care of, waste that is dissolved and chemical.
Here is a good Idea put about 10 Puranas in with them and see what happens then make it to a saltwater tank it would look so much cooler. Good tank tho.
u really dont know fish... the nitrate buildup would be ore toxic than the amonia with too many golfish and lots of filtration the nitrate build up would burn the leaves and roots of the plants and stunt the fish and cause deseases like droopsy you bacicly saying you can have 1000000 gallons of filtration and have 100000 goldfish in a 0.00000000000000001 galllon pippet
Agreed and that's why I ended up getting pool filter sand. It's quite inexpensive and looks fantastic. No, there aren't any chemicals in the sand that adversely affect water supply. Some of my fish love to sift through the sand, spit it out and so on, looking for snacks. Having said that, his choice of black moon gravel looks appealing, albeit expensive.
Yea id put some arowanas in there lol gj though, lucky gold fish
ReplyDeletewow most goldfish end up in stupid bowls with a one week life span but these lucky fish have it right. good job
