New 75 Gallon Tank Setup

I've been working on this for months! I replaced by old 75 gallon tank with a new one in black trim, built a wet/dry filter out of a 20 gallon long tank, turned the stand around and painted it black (the back of the stand had a bigger opening for better sump access), and made new cabinet doors and painted them. I still have to add some plants and my fish of course! :) www.facebook.com twitter.com www.solid-gold-fish.blogspot.com

WoW - Cold Water Fishing (Ironforge Daily Fishing Quest)

Showed the quest in its entirety so you get an idea of exactly what's involved. Quest starts and ends with Grimnur Stonebrand in Ironforge's Forlorn Cavern. Must catch a flight and make a short jaunt to Helm's Bed Lake in Dun Morogh. Beware of the Surgers (elementals) that surround the lake. Although low levels, they can be a nuisance. Catch your five arctic char and return to Gol'Bolar Quarry for a return flight to Ironforge. Music by: Hot Chocolate, Stevie Nicks & Dave Stewart, Jerry Jaye.

DIY Pre-Filter for Aquariums

Hey guys, I just want to talk a little about pre-filters. So you might have heard about people putting mesh and sponges over their filter intakes for breeding tanks. Or maybe those horror stories about long finned fish such as Betta or Fancy Goldfish getting their tails pulled in by the filter. Maybe it's the old "when I go to clean my filter I find shrimp and or dead leaves". Maybe your filter clogs easy? Impellers wearing out from sand getting into the filter. Well, if done correctly a pre-filter can minimize a lot of these problems. IMO they reduce a lot of maintenance, as your filter will not need as much attention as it would if you had not pre-filter. Pre-filters are cheap too. I picked mine up for less than AUD. I'm anticipating that it wont need replacing for years and years (if looked after correctly). I hope this helps! Here's how I made my pre-filter.

Platy Fish giving birth- UP CLOSE- 14 births caught on camera

Platy giving birth amazingly up close footage! This is Rosie she is a Platy and this is her first lot of babies. Platy are livebearers, which means unlike most fish they dont lay eggs, they give birth to live young called fry. To see some of the babies just after they where born follow the link: www.youtube.com HELP ME NAME THEM LEAVE NAME SUGGESTIONS IN COMMENT BOX She is in a breeding trap to prevent her from eating her young as Platys have no maternal instincts... however does not always work and Rosie ended up eating a far few of hers. WARNING: some of my fish where clever enough to work out that when the babies tale fins got near the gaps of the breeding trap, they could nibble on them and even pull them through. If possible try and put the babies into there own tank to prevent this from happening. I sadly lost 4 because of this. To see a Platy mating dance and Platy's mating follow the link: www.youtube.com

2 MILLION DEAD FISH Wash Up In Chesapeake Bay - Maryland - Cause of Death 'Cold Water'

www.reuters.com - Thu Jan 6, 2011 - There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for the Chesapeake deaths, the Maryland Department of Environment said. "The cause of this appears to be the rapid temperature drop combined with the large population of the juvenile spot fish," spokesman Jay Apperson told Reuters on Thursday'. The largest ever die-off was around 15 million in January, 1976.- Thanks to SeriouslyCurious for the lead. TROUT IN THE CLASSROOM 2010

An inside look at the Trout Unlimited North (San Francisco) Bay Chapter's highly successful Trout in the Class program for 2010. 49 Marin County 1st through 4th grade classes received 30 trout eggs for each class. TIC is designed to teach young people to have an appreciation of conservation and the need to protect the environment. The program is targeted to grades K-12 with the majority in the elementary grades. NBTU provides each classroom with coldwater aquariums, thanks to a generous grant from the Marin Community Foundation. The CA. Dept. of Fish & Game provides trout eggs, Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) helps with teacher training and fry releases and NBTU assists in the raising of them for their release as fry. The teachers develop a curriculum that teaches about the life cycle of the fish, the environment they will need to survive, and the food that they eat. Students learn a great deal about trout and salmon, their habitat, their predators, and the need for clean, cold watersheds. If you are interested in supporting this classroom activity, and have 20 hours to spare between December and March, please contact Chuck Schultz at 415.472.5837, or imayrespond@netzero.com or outside of Marin contact Ethan Rotman, Classroom Aquarium Education Program Coordinator, San Francisco Bay Area, California Fish and Game www.classroomaquarium.org

Cold Water Fishing On A Portabote And A Malibu Mini X Kayak

Cold Water Fishing On A Portabote And A Malibu Mini X Kayak
What??? Did you actually think the cold weather was going to stop me??? NEVER!!! I know the fishing gets slow during the winter, but I cant stand just wasting inside. I get cabin fever. I need to get outside. Believe it or not, I love all the seasons equally. And despite the cold weather, every true fisherman knows that the cold weather can produce some big fish. Also, this video is a tribute to IMDEISSEL. He has proven to be a friend and dependable fishing bud. He wanted me to make a video of our adventures, so I did. As you can see, this is a compilation of 3 trips. As stated, fishing in the cold can be slow, and even though I think compilations are a sign of weakness, I made this video since all three trips are interconnected. Trip 1... We fished the mighty back waters of the Great Lakes. We went for STURGEON. I must admit, the hype was there. Two weeks before, our colleague caught a 100 pound lake sturgeon. The DNR reports over 10000 sturgeons in this particular system. We were stoked, but the fishing proved to be tough despite the fact that my sonar was marking fish like crazy. So, we tried for bass and pike. We caught a bunch of small perch by the dozens, and in turn, used them for pike/bass bait. We had no luck. Even the gobie we caught couldnt entice a nice fat bass or catfish. Oh well I go to this place every year for the fishing. But the scenery and gin clear waters are hard to pass up. This is such a beautiful place. Plus, I love the ferry ride, not to mention ...

Awesome Turtle + Fish Tank!

This is my first time using this camera so i wasn't the best at focusing, but i hope you enjoyed the video. I have two red eared sliders, three goldies, 4 tiger barbs, 2 flathead minnows, 1 chinese algae eater, 1 dalmation molly, and a couple rosies. I know these fish are not normally kept together especially with turtles but i am proof it works. I have very healthy and happy fish and turtles. The turtles have no interest in the fish and all of the fish coexist well together. I keep the tank at approx 72 to 73 degrees and i overfilter but that is almost necessary with goldies and turtles. Hope you enjoyed watching and please like comment and subscribe!
