Cold water aquarium / fish tank

  1. air pumps are necessary as impurities in the water attach themselves to the bubbles and are then released into the air, replacing the impurities with oxygenated water. so yeah get an air pump/air stone

  2. If he has a standard 4 foot tank it is most likely a 55 gallon tank. And cold water doesn't mean that his house is not heated or that the tank is not in a heated environment, just that there is no heater in the water. Normal tropical fish with require a heater because they do best with water temps in the upper 70's to lower 80's and need the temp to stay constant. Cold water fish, like gold fish, do fine with colder water.

  5. What is the size of ur aquarium? - a 10 gallon?
    Are u using a heater and an airpump?
    Do u NEED toHAVE to have an airpump for a 10 gallon goldfish tank?....I have a filter, but no airpump or airstone.

  17. I live in a mild climate. Like the guppies they're quite happy in the cooler water, they just wont breed in winter is all.

  19. They're not chomping on rocks, they are eating food pellets i dropped into the tank prior to feeding.

  21. Thanks, the tank has Goldfish comets and fantails, a couple of loaches, a koi karp and about 20 rosie barbs. They all get along great, no fin nipping.
